Championing Lower Emissions with Resolve
Resolute measures have been taken in Germany to protect the environment ever since the seventies. By installing flue gas desulphurization units in all their large coal-fired power plants, German power utilities have made a key contribution to reducing emissions.
E.ON Kraftwerke is making a major contribution to protecting the climate. Our subsidiary E.ON Kraftwerke is doing major maintenance work to make the Farge coal-fired power plant in Bremen, Germany, fit for the future. Center stage is taken by improvements in plant efficiency: Fuel use remaining equal, these plants will be able to generate nearly 20 megawatts more. These green watts produce as much power as 60 modern wind power stations, cutting CO2 levels by some 100,000 metric tons a year.
Efficiency-enhancement measures carried out in power plants do not draw on subsidies to be profitable and are thus an efficient proposition seen within a macroeconomic context. By implementing these measures, E.ON Kraftwerke will avoid some 1 million metric tons of CO2 every year by the end of this decade.
