Art isn't "predictable", because culture isn't just an end in itself. For as long as it has existed, mankind has tended towards the arts. Not because they bring money, but because it's man's basic need to create something permanent from his imagination. Events such as a concert performance that releases emotions in the listener, an exhibition of paintings that inspires the observer or a stage play that enthrals the audience fulfil this basic need of the individual and social life. They allow aspirations after education, identification, creativity and participation to become reality. So ultimately the sponsorship of art and culture is not an end in itself, but a social task where everyone is challenged and can contribute.
A lot of ideas and inspiration are needed to continue to bring economy and culture together. If it works, it will be extremely productive for both sides. As antithetic as the two worlds are, they are noticeably turning into partners that can learn and profit from each other.
