DANCE 2006 - Körper Sphären
DANCE 2006 is celebrating an anniversary this year: Launched as the state capital city of Munich´s first dance initiative nearly 20 years ago, 2006 marks the tenth time the Festival is presenting international ensembles that have written dance history or made a name for themselves by giving spectators a unique view of reality.
For a total of two weeks, Munich will host 15 high-caliber choreographers, media and light artists, dancers as well as dance troupes, which will stage 17 productions and projects from 9 countries, including Brazil, India, the US, France and Canada.
The program will showcase six premieres, three first runs, and two unique art and dance history reconstruction projects in unusual venues, i.e. on E.ON Energies Piazza. Other main event locations include Gasteig, Muffathalle, Haus der Kunst, Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz and i-Camp.
DANCE is a gateway to the global world of dance, offering Munich´s dance scene and a wide audience insight into current trends and major societal issues. The long list of guests always features familiar names, including fine artist and choreographer Jean Fabre, US dance icon Trisha Brown, French-born Christian Rizzo, Dave St. Pierre from Montreal, Chris Ziegler from ZKM in Karlsruhe and Jayachandran Palazhy from Bangalore along with his group.
