Tour of Hope - Cycling for a Good Cause
We are committed to helping people in our region. This is one of the focal points of our social responsibility. To fulfill this pledge, employees of E.ON Energie, E.ON Mitte and E.ON edis went back on their bicycles to complete the Tour of Hope yet again.
And their intentions couldnt be better: collect donations for kids with cancer. A hundred and seventy-five cyclists, including Olympic and world champions the likes of top-notch pro swimmer Annika Mehlhorn, who is sponsored by E.ON Mitte, as well as high-profile politicians and executives showed their renewed support for the event this year.
E.ON Employees Donate Over 34,000 Euros to Cancer Children
Hartmut Geldmacher, Executive Vice President of E.ON Energie AG, presented the Tour director with a check for 34,100 euros in Potsdam. E.ON Energies aid fund collected 20,000 euros for the Tour from staff members who voluntarily renounced the amounts in cents on their pay slips alone. Says Hartmut Geldmacher: "The Tour of Hope is a wonderful campaign. It marries the enjoyment of sports with benefits and aid for children with cancer. E.ON Energie and its employees are extremely enthusiastic about participating!"
Dubbed "The Goodwill Bicycle Tour," this event has gotten on the road every year for 23 years, seeking to help kids befallen with cancer and leukemia in select children´s clinics both in Germany and abroad. This time, the charitable cyclists covered more than 276 kilometers, riding through the states of Berlin, Brandenburg and Saxony.
