Löwenherz Pediatric Hospice
A hundred thousand euros - this is how much E.ON Energie donated to the Löwenherz Pediatric Hospice in Syke (near Bremen) and the Chistiane Herzog Foundation in Stuttgart.
The money was collected by the Group´s staff. They voluntarily renounced the amounts in cents from their paychecks, and the company doubled the sum.
In 1985, Christiane Herzog established the Christiane Herzog Foundation under the motto "Helping with Deeds." Some 6,000 to 8,000 kids suffer from cystic fibrosis in Germany. The Foundation is intended to be a pillar of support to affected children and their families and make the kid´ day-to-day life easier.
The Löwenherz Pediatric Hospice´s quest is to give children suffering from incurable diseases love, warmth and security. The kids´parents often lack the strength to do so, hindered by the impending loss of their childrens lives. Kids often receive special care for years. The concept is designed to help parents recover from the burdens they have to shoulder on a daily basis.
Every year, 150 families are accepted and supported via consultation sessions and various aid offerings. They receive assistance until those of their children who are terminally ill pass away. E.ON Energie´s donations are to provide recognition for the work done by these institutions and make a contribution to their subsistence.
