Another of the UCTE’s main fields of activity is the analysis of the expansion of synchronized networks to the east. Presently, far-reaching studies are underway with a view to exploring options for extending the electricity union to encompass Russia, Turkey and North Africa. In so doing, one must ensure that the union’s expansion does not jeopardize system stability and that new members are capable of complying with the agreements.
