Oil - An Important Source of Energy
Some of the power stations operated by our subsidiary E.ON Kraftwerke also use oil to produce energy. Oil-fired power plants play an important role in our fleet of power stations whenever we need to rapidly offset fluctuations, e.g. in amounts of power fed in from wind farms, or to cover peak-load periods.
For instance, we can run our gas turbine power stations on light heating oil as well.
The great advantage these power plants possess, is that they can be ramped up very quickly, which enables them to work at capacity in a short period of time.
Our oil-fired power stations are located in Audorf, Itzehohe, Wilhelmshaven, and other sites. For further information on these and other power plant variants, please look at the map of E.ON's power stations on the Web.
