Strength and Successful Growth

Within the E.ON Group, E.ON Energie is responsible for the integrated power business (generation, transmission, trading, distribution, and sales) and downstream gas business (distribution and sales) in Central Europe.

The Central Europe market unit is divided into two groups: East and West. Among others the Central Western Europe’s (Germany, Low Countries) tasks are as follows:

  • Power generation by conventional, nuclear and hydroelectric power plants.
  • Power transmission across high-voltage grids.
  • Regional distribution of power, gas and heat.
  • Wholesale and sales of power, gas and heat.

The Central Eastern Europe group (2006: Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary) covers shareholdings in regional utilities. As the holding company, E.ON Energie sets targets and defines strategies, makes investment decisions and coordinates the cooperation for all locally operating companies.

In fiscal 2006 the E.ON Energie Group supplied some 17 million customers with power and gas in Germany and abroad - thereof eight million in Central Eastern Europe.
