Bringing New Energy to the consumer

E.ON Energie delivers electricity securely and reliably to customers in Germany and abroad via its electric transmission network. In Germany alone, its transmission subsidiary E.ON Netz operates one of the largest privately owned transmission networks in continental Europe. It has a network length of around 42,000 kilometers. The network is also available for transmitting electricity for other utilities under third-party access agreements. The high-voltage network provides vital infrastructure for Europe's liberalized, competitive electricity sector, where it serves as a marketplace and trading hub. It is thus essential for the optimal interconnection of Europe's power stations and for providing customers with a secure, reliable electricity supply.

New Energy on the market

Electricity-sector liberalization has transformed monopoly supply territories into open markets, and electricity into a commodity that is traded across Europe. Power trading plays a major part in optimizing the use and deployment of the E.ON Energie Group's own generation assets. Its subsidiary, E.ON Sales & Trading, plays a pivotal role in this respect. It is responsible for all of the Group's energy trading activities and for energy sales to key accounts. The E.ON Group trades on all of the key power exchanges in Europe. The main focus of its trading activities is on the markets of Northern and Central Europe.
